UW-Stout Holds In-Person Commencement Ceremonies

Since 2018, Gerald P. (Jay) Fahl has held the role of thermoplastics molding operator at Scientific Molding Corporation in Somerset, Wisconsin. Gerald Fahl earned a bachelor’s degree in general business administration from the University of Wisconsin-Stout (UW-Stout), which recently held a unique virtual and in-person commencement to celebrate students’ success despite the challenges related to the pandemic.

On May 8, 2021, UW-Stout held several in-person commencement ceremonies at Johnson Fieldhouse, allowing graduates to choose to attend in person or online to celebrate their perseverance during the pandemic. The university last held a fully in-person commencement ceremony 18 months ago, in December 2019.

This year, some 400 graduates chose to attend one of the four ceremonies in person. Chancellor Katherine Frank delivered the commencement address, praising students for adapting to a changing world and overcoming the unique academic challenges related to completing their degree programs during trying times.
